Things to Consider Before Buying a Havanese Puppy
So you’re looking for Havanese puppies for sale. You may be asking yourself questions like do I want to find a male Havanese puppy for sale? Maybe you’ve got your eye on a certain female Havanese puppy for sale. These are all important concerns, but you may not be ready for them yet.
Before you go a step further, you may actually need to rewind for a second. Getting a Havanese dog for sale is a big decision, and you’re going to need to make sure that you’re prepared. Before even preparing, you need to decide if a Havanese is the right kind of puppy for you.
Think about this from several angles, mainly these two: Is this going to be the best possible situation for you? And is this going to be the best possible situation for your new Havanese puppy?
One of the biggest factors in your decision will be space. When you find a Havanese dog for sale, anyone you ask is going to tell you that it needs to be an indoor dog. Havanese puppies don’t require a lot of space, but you want at least a place where they can play around on the floor a bit since they aren’t going to be able to go outside unsupervised. Also, if you have a place that doesn’t belong to you, or lots of fragile items around, you’re going to have to be worried about the little puppy being destructive as you train him against such behavior.
Also think about whom the Havanese puppy is going to be sharing its new home with, aside from you. If you have other pets, you are going to have to consider how the two will interact, or find a way to keep them separated. Your Havanese will be able to get along with another animal in most cases, because you are going to have the advantage of introducing them while the Havanese is still young. The other animal, on the other hand, may be a problem. Consult your veterinarian or a book on your specific breed to find out how to expect them to react to a new member of the household.
If you have small children around your home, you have many of the same issues to consider. The Havanese puppy will most likely behave well with the children. Chances are, he will love them and greatly enjoy playing with them and having fun. You may have to talk to your children though, educating them about how to treat the puppy and how to help take care of him. They will have to understand that the puppy is a responsibility, not just a toy. If the children are at all mean-spirited or destructive, you will also have to watch out for the puppy’s safety as the children may not be gentle enough with it.
One advantage of the Havanese over other breeds is in regard to allergies. Because their coats are so long, they aren’t as bad as many breeds to flare up the allergies of those sensitive to pet dander and hair.
Aside from space and other occupants, also consider time. Do you have the time to devote to a small Havanese puppy? The Havanese will need a lot of attention and care from you, especially when it is still very young. If you are a busy person who can’t devote a lot of time to your dog, you may need to consider other breeds.
These aren’t huge problems, for the most part. You will be able to work through most issues if you try hard enough. If you really want to buy Havanese dogs, you can make it work for the two of you. It will be a tremendous help just to have put some thought into all of this ahead of time. The better you know what you’re getting into, the better prepared you can be.
If you’ve thought through all of these items and you still believe that you and a Havanese dog would be right for each other, then you can begin to look at Havanese for sale. Now the only issue that remains is how to choose the right Havanese puppy.
