how do i stop my adult havanese dog from biting ?
okay so i bought a 1 year old adult havenese rescue dog about 3 weeks ago. just recently he started to bit my older sister as well as growling and barking. before we bought him, his owner died from cancer so the family have him back to the breeders.
how can i get him to stop biting my sister ?
and i know there aren't really any quick fixes, but i need something as close as you can get. we may have to give him back, but we already spent soo much money on him it would be a shame.
i have been taking him to obedience classes since i first got him..
i dont know what the problem is but i need to fix it FAST
Go and buy a muzzle so that every time he bites he'll get to wear the muzzle for 10 to 15 or even 20 minutes, but don't try to play with him or give him attention during that time to show him that all he got is his mouth but you got the control over everything.
I know for a fact that this method works because my own dog hates his muzzle so whenever he used to bite I would just let him wear the muzzle for some time, and that's when he would really feel powerless.
Right now anyone can tell my dog "don't bite" calmly and put his fingers inside his mouth and he wouldn't dare to bite, even though I give him raw bones every now and then and he would crush them like nothing.

you need to start your dog in obedience training ASAP! a biting dog is not good to have around. you could be sued if it bites the wrong person.
References :
give him the silent treatment everytime he bites and say No Bites _____
also if you have another dog give that dog a treat and tell him what a good boy he is (i hope this doesn't sound like torture)
plus every time you guys (u and ur sister) see him make sure you have treat in your pocket then when he comes over without growling give him a treat and say what a good boy and always ask if he wants to go on walks (it will give him a confidence boost)

You may need to try muzzling the dog for a while. It sounds like he is overwhelmed by the change in households. Try limiting the dogs interaction to one person until he is more comfortable and less apt to bite and then introduce next person, and so on.

You need to inform the dog's breeder - if he is a reputable one, he should be the expert in the breed and be familiar with his dog's bloodlines. Sounds like you have a "fear aggressive" dog and if you aren't knowledgeable in dog psychology, you are going to end up with a dangerous dog.
I guarantee you are going to have to continue to put more money AND time into a proper excerise and rehab program. If you don't, you will end up paying in a law suit someday…
