    Havanese Puppies for Sale

Buying a Havanese is not cheap.  Expect to pay anywhere from $800 to $1300 for your new Havanese puppy.  Steep price tag aside, you will find it to be a very worthwhile investment.  Your new Havanese pup will be expensive, but he will prove his worth to you a million times over.  Still yet, the initial expense is great, and you want to be careful.  You need to make sure that you are well informed as you go into the situation, so that you don’t wind up making a big mistake!

First, you will need to understand the basic concept of dog breeders.  Most of them are good people, and many of them especially love dogs.  But they are a business.  Their primary function is to make money.  And you’re going to be the one to give them that money.  They have a dog you want, and you have money they want.  It’s as simple as that – a business transaction.  Don’t fool yourself into thinking that you are going to someone whose only goal is to see you get the puppy you want for the price you want.  Many breeders are very good about such things, but remember – business first.

Once you understand the capitalist nature of a dog breeder, you are ready to start thinking about buying your Havanese puppy.  Practice many of the same techniques you would if you were buying any other major purchase, such as a car or an appliance.  Shop around.  Don’t ever just buy from the first place you go to.  The place down the street might have a much better price.  You have to check everywhere you can before you make your decision.  Granted, you can’t go to every single dog breeder around the world.  One certain dog and one certain price tag will eventually stand out as the best deal.  But every place you go before then makes you that much better prepared.

When you meet with the breeder, ask questions.  Ask every question you think of; he will be glad to answer them if he wants to make the sale.  Don’t worry about sounding silly or ignorant.  You’re the one about to open your wallet, so you’re the one whose opinions matter the most.  Gather all the information you can before you commit to a purchase.

Lastly, get to know the dog.  Don’t focus so much on the breeder and the price that you forget the most important element of all.  Make sure that the dog is one you can get along with and love.  Don’t let a “bargain” talk you into buying a dog that isn’t right for you.  On the contrary, you may end up paying a little more than you intended because that one certain dog is just so perfect.  That’s okay.  Find a dog you’ll be happy with, and you’ll be happy with your purchase.

So there you have it.  Remember that you are making a huge purchase that will be with you for years and years.  Think of it as a business transaction and act accordingly.  But when it comes right down to it, you must also think of it as a search for a new friend.  This may be the most important part of all.
