Dog Food Recipes You Can Cook For Your Havanese
Do you want your best friend to really worship the ground you walk on? He probably already does, but offering your Havanese a yummy homemade treat will seal the deal. If you doubt it, try to remember back when you were a child and a loved one (a grandmother, mother or someone else) took the time to make you a homemade sweet treat. It’s a good memory right? Show that you care for your Havanese by giving him delicious and nutritious delicacies.
One Egg, One Cup Of Flour And…One Beef Bouillon Cube?
Granted, a dog’s idea of a treat is a little different from our own. Most homemade human treats include a lot of sugar, but dog treats should not. If you’re wondering what should go into dog treats, just think about what dogs like: meat (chicken, beef or chicken); starches (oats or different types of flour); fruits and vegetables (apples and bananas for example); and some ingredients for taste (vanilla or garlic). Beef or chicken bouillon cubes are also a safe bet, and so is peanut butter. Dogs love peanut butter!
The Internet is a great resource for dog treat recipes; so are kennel club members and other pet owners. Once you find some recipes, get the family involved in making the treats for your pooch. Havanese care should be a family endeavor; and on the upside, nobody is going to fight over who gets to lick the spoon (again, these are DOG treats).
Here’s a sample recipe to show your Havanese you care:
Peanut Butter Num Nums
2 ½ cups water 2 eggs 2 cups oatmeal 1 cup flour 4 heaping tablespoons of peanut butter
Mix the ingredients, shape them on a cookie sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes in a 400 degree oven. Allow them to cool and it’s chowtime (for your pet).
Havanese care means special little touches like treats from time to time. Keep in mind that these are small dogs so offer small treats. Also consider your dog’s age. Older dogs might do better with softer treats while younger dogs and puppies might prefer something they can sink their teeth into.
While we're thinking about pampering our pooch, here's something else that also involves pampering your Havanese: grooming. Grooming your Havanese is important, because in case you haven’t noticed, these dogs have some hair! Learn how to deal with it and make your dog beautiful. Havanese may not care how they look (dogs aren’t vain, that’s people), but you should.
