Some self-proclaimed “authorities” on Havanese care claim that the only proper or “right” diet for your Havanese is one that recreates as much as possible what the dog’s ancestors might have eaten in the wild. They recommend wild game and an assortment of fruits and vegetables fed to the animal throughout the day. What’s that? You say you don’t have the time or the inclination to catch and kill a fresh rabbit for your Havanese while your tiny little dog gets in touch with his “inner wolf?” Rest assured, you don’t have to do so. It takes a little more time and preparation to provide your dog with homemade meals, but doesn’t have to be exceedingly difficult. Glean ideas for dog meals from the Internet or other written sources.
